The medical examiner identified a 26-year-old man, who died Monday while swimming at the beach near the Natural Energy Laboratory on the Big Island.

An autopsy conducted Tuesday determined Richard Demby, of Kailua-Kona, drowned.

Demby was reported missing after he failed to make it to shore while swimming with another man Monday morning, fire officials reported.

Fire rescue personnel found his body Monday afternoon approximately 25 yards from shore. He was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead.
