A 29-year-old Kapahulu man is scheduled to stand trial in August for allegedly severely beating and killing a 53-year-old man last month in Kalihi.

Moses Henry entered a plea of not guilty in Circuit Court on Thursday to a charge of manslaughter in the death of Anthony Corpuz.

An Oahu grand jury indicted Henry on May 28 for allegedly recklessly causing the death of Corpuz. Henry is being held in Oahu Community Correctional Center, unable to post bail of $50,000.

According to a police affidavit, a witness said Corpuz argued with a group at 4:20 a.m. in the parking lot near Club Cleopatra at 1095 Dillingham Blvd. After Corpuz made a derogatory remark, Henry ran toward Corpuz and allegedly punched him once in the face.
