Downed line causes 2-acre brush fire on Maui
A downed power line sparked a two-acre grass fire in Upcountry Maui on Monday.
Maui firefighters responding to a 4:23 p.m. call found the fire slowly advancing within a pasture along Piiholo Road, just above Waiahiwi Road.
The fire was contained by 4:57 p.m. and fully extinguished a half-hour later.
Firefighters determined that the fire was caused by a downed Maui Electric Co. line.
