Woman killed in single-car crash is ID’d
The city Medical Examiner’s Office said a 41-year-old Ewa Beach woman died of injuries to her head when she lost control of her car early Sunday morning and hit a concrete median on Farrington Highway near the Kahe Power Plant.
The woman was identified as Larissa Tuifao. Police said Tuifao may have fallen asleep early Sunday morning when the car crashed into the median and flipped over.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. Tuifao was not wearing a seat belt.
Tuifao’s 7-year-old daughter was wearing a seat belt in the front seat. She crawled out on her own after the crash, and paramedics took her in good condition to a hospital.
The car was traveling east on Farrington Highway when the accident occurred about a half-mile west of Aliinui Drive near the Kahe Power Plant, police said.
This is Oahu’s 25th traffic fatality this year, compared with 27 at the same time last year.
