Hawaii surfer Bethany Hamilton gives birth to boy
Kauai surfer Bethany Hamilton gave birth to a boy June 1.
According to her Facebook page, Tobias is 7.9 pounds and 21 inches long. Named after his great grandfather, Tobias means “the goodness of God.”
Hamilton shared the news on her Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts Monday morning.
“Adam and I are so in love with our lil guy and are stoked to share life with him,” she said in her Facebook post.
Hamilton and her husband Adam Dirks competed on the globetrotting reality show "The Amazing Race" last fall, but fell just short of winning the whole thing in the season finale.
When Hamilton was 13, a 14-foot tiger shark ripped off her left arm while she was surfing with friends in Hawaii in 2003. The film "Soul Surfer" was the inspirational tale of Hamilton’s recovery.
