Waianae’s Max Holloway will fight Charles Oliveira in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card on Aug. 23 at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Canada, the UFC announced Monday.
Holloway (13-3, 9-3 UFC) has won six consecutive fights to earn a main event slot for the first time. The 145-pound bout will be a five-rounder.
Holloway is ranked No. 5 in the UFC at featherweight, while Oliveira (20-4, 8-4), who has won four in a row, is ranked seventh.
Oliveira ranks fourth all-time in the UFC with seven victories by submission. Both fighters are tied with two others for the most finishes all-time in the UFC featherweight division with seven.
The main card will air live on Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. Hawaii time.
Kane named Saint Louis soccer coach
Mark Kane has been named the Saint Louis School varsity soccer coach and program coordinator, athletic director Wade Okamura announced Monday.
Kane, a Saint Louis graduate, will be in his third stint with the Crusaders. He was the coach from 1984 to 1995 and from 2010 to 2013.
He has also coached football and soccer at Castle High and was the Hawaii Pacific University women’s soccer coach from 1995 to 2007.
Razon makes Cerebral Palsy soccer roster
Jarrett Razon, a 2001 Mililani High School graduate, has been named to the 14-player roster that will compete in the 2015 Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships from June 16 to 28 in Staffordshire, England.
Razon, an army staff sergeant, was wounded in a blast from an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan in 2012.
He was the 2001 Star-Bulletin All-State soccer player of the year.
