A watermain break on 10th Avenue near Hinahina Street in Palolo created a sinkhole that swallowed a pickup truck Thursday morning.
Board of Water Supply crews responded to a break in 16-inch water main in Palolo Thursday morning.
The break was reported at 6:07 a.m. on 10th Avenue near Hinahina Street.
It created a sinkhole in the road that swallowed a pickup truck. A tow truck removed the truck from the watery hole before repairs began on the main.
Police closed 10th Avenue between Hinahina and Maluhia streets and drivers are advised to avoid the area.
Repairs are expected to continue into the evening.
The main break cut off water service to 23 customers.
A water wagon was sent to the area.
