Traffic was backed up to Wahiawa after police closed south-bound lanes of the H-2 freeway in MIlilani following a critical accident Monday morning.

Honolulu police have reopened the H-2 freeway in the south-bound direction from the Wilikina onramp to the Mililani offramp following a multi-car accident that critically injured a 70-year-old man and seriously injured two women Monday morning.

The crash happened at about 7:18 a.m. near the Mililani offramp. The Kamehameha onramp and Leilehua onramp to the freeway are also closed.

Traffic backed up on surface streets around Mililani and back to Wahiawa on the freeway and on Kamehameha Highway.

Emergency Medical Services reported that paramedics treated six people, including a 70-year-old man in critical condition. Paramedics also took two women, ages 44 and 29, to the hospital in serious condition. Three other people — a 51-year-old man, a 43-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman — were treated at the scene, but did not want to go to the hospital.
