Maui fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that displaced 3 people in Spreckelsville Tuesday night.
A resident heard popping sounds and smelled smoke and called 911 at about 7:21 p.m.
Arriving firefighters saw flames and smoke coming from the garage of the single-story home upon arrival at 7:26 p.m.
Firefighters brought the flames under control by 8:03 p.m. and contained the fire to the garage.
Two other people living at the home were visiting a neighbor. All three residents are staying with neighbors, the Fire Department reported.
There were no injuries. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
Five companies and a water tanker from Paia, Kahului, Makawao, and Wailuku responded to the incident.
