Man dies after Hilo crash
A 61-year-old California man died Saturday following a single-vehicle accident on Kanoelehua Avenue between Kahaopea Street and Kawailani Street in Hilo.
Big Island police said the driver was traveling south on Kanoelehua Avenue at 9:41 p.m. when his a 2015 Ford four-door sedan ran off the right side of the road and struck a cement wall.
Police believe that the driver may have suffered a medical condition prior to the crash.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death.
An ambulance took the man to the Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:16 p.m.
His name was being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
