The roadside concrete barriers nearing Laniakea Beach will remain, it seems, while the combatants in this particular legal battle try to come to terms.
Circuit Judge Karen Nakasone granted the state an extension on the barriers while both sides meet Aug. 18 to seek a solution. We all complain about our litigious society, but unfortunately, lawsuits sometimes seem the only way to get people to produce a solution. Let’s hope it succeeds in that.

For football fans not satistifed with the Canadian or Arena football leagues, both of which can be fun and are in full swing right now, National Football League games start up again Sunday: Vikings versus Steelers. 2 p.m. It’s only NFL pre-season, but definitely the real deal.
