Crews work to extinguish fire in Ewa Forest Reserve

An eight-day-old wildland fire in the Ewa Forest Reserve was 85 percent contained Sunday, the state reported.

Thirty-five firefighters from the state Division of Forestry and Wildlife continued perimeter containment and mop-up operations, the state said by email.

Eleven firefighters from Maui were assisting the state crews on the Poamoho fire line, and a helicopter continued water drops.
