A Starbucks unlike any of its other 21,000 outlets is set to open at center-Strip this month in the Grand Bazaar Shops at Bally’s.
The 3,300-square-foot store will feature a stadium-style grandstand, with a seating capacity of 36, looking onto an oversize projection screen.
The Super Starbucks will also have a giant wraparound mural portraying the coffee-production process and views looking out onto the Strip pedestrian bridge, but it’s the three-level bleachers that are generating all the buzz. It wasn’t disclosed whether the 150-square-foot viewing screen will simply function as a TV or will be used for other types of programming.
Room remodels: The Venetian has completed a yearlong remodel of its 3,000 suites. Upgrades include energy-efficient lighting and more modern furniture and bedding. Meanwhile, Mandalay Bay is entering the final phase of a $100 million renovation of all of its 3,211 guest rooms that will feature the addition of in-room work areas.
French invasion: Paris Baguette Cafe is “opening soon” at the Venetian. It joins Venetian/Palazzo’s already stellar French lineup of Bouchon, db Brasserie and Morels.
Somers over: Suzanne Somers, that is. The former “Three’s Company” star has announced that she won’t be returning in September as planned and is discontinuing her show, “Suzanne Sizzles,” at the Westgate. No specific plans for a replacement have been announced, though it’s presumed that “Dirk Arthur Wild Magic,” the big-cat magic show that begins performing at the Westgate this month, will be a part of the plan.
Question: Has the Buffalo chicken wings place opened yet?
Yes. Anchor Bar, the originator of Buffalo hot wings, has opened in the food court at the Venetian. A single order comes with nine wings for $12, or $1.33 apiece. A double order is 18 for $22, or $1.22 apiece, so that’s the best play if you aren’t solo. For groups there’s a 50-for-$55 option, or $1.10 per wing.
