Trial scheduled for woman accused of hitting boy in crosswalk
A Circuit Court trial for a woman charged with hitting a nine-year-old boy who was in a crosswalk in Waimanalo in December will be held in October.
Valarie Palacios is free after posting bail of $5,000 to a charge of first-degree negligent injury.
The incident occurred the morning of Dec. 21 on Kalanianaole Highway and Moole Street near Waiamanalo Elementary and Intermediate School.
The prosecutor’s office said cars had stopped to let the child cross the street. Palacios allegedly pulled out from behind one of the stopped cars and drove through, hitting the boy.
