Linda intensified into a major hurricane overnight off the coast of Mexico.
The storm is packing winds of 125 mph about 320 miles west-southwest of Baja California at 5 a.m.
It is moving north-northwest at 14 mph.
Hurricane-force winds extend 30 miles from the center and tropical storm force winds extend 105 miles.
Outer rain bands and high surf from Linda were moving onshore of the southern Baja California peninsula.
Hurricane Linda is expected to weaken starting Tuesday night and move off to the northwest and does not appear to be a direct threat to land.
