Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly tried to assault a woman in Kapolei as she was walking home Wednesday.

Police are looking for a man in his 30s who allegedly tried to sexually assault a woman in Kapolei on Wednesday.

CrimeStoppers issued a news release Friday saying the incident occurred 12:45 a.m. Wednesday when the woman was walking home on Kaiau Avenue near Kamaaha Avenue.

The suspect approached the woman from behind and pushed her into a bush, police said.

The man then allegedly attempted to sexually assault her, but stopped when the woman talked him into going to her home nearby.

When they arrived at the residence, she convinced him to wait outside and locked the house and called police.

The man is described as 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, 140 pounds, with short, curly brown hair. He wore a black tank top, black shorts with white stripes and athletic shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cell phone.
