Fire destroyed a two-story house on Hookele Street in Kona on Friday evening.

Hawaii County Fire Department personnel responding to a 9:28 p.m. alarm found the roof of the wooden structure collapsed and roughly half of the home in flames.

Firefighters battled the blaze overnight before finally extinguishing it around 5 a.m. on Saturday.

An undisclosed number of occupants were home at the time of the blaze but all were able to escape without injury.

The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.

Damage was estimated at $350,000 to the structure and its contents. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
