Hilo man charged with burglary, theft, drug offenses
Hawaii island police have charged a 22-year-old Hilo man with burglary, theft and drug offenses after he and at least two other suspects allegedly burglarized a home in the Wainaku area on Sept. 10.
According to police, the victim returned to his Puueo Mauka Road home to find a Nissan Pathfinder in his driveway and three people standing next to it. The three suspects got into the vehicle and fled, striking the victim’s pickup truck while he was still in it.
Responding officers located the Pathfinder off of Keawe Street in time to see three people running from it. The officers caught and arrested Isaac Rosa of Mountain View and a 16-year-old boy, who was wanted on an unrelated juvenile warrant.
Rosa was found to be in possession of property belonging to the victim and a clear bag containing a substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
A subsequent investigation found that the Pathfinder had been reported stolen. Items belonging to the burglary victim were found inside the vehicle, as well.
On Friday, police charged Rosa with burglary, theft, promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held in lieu of $55,000. The juvenile was turned over to Family Court.
