The 35-year-old stepdaughter of Duane “Dog” Chapman was charged Monday with robbing a Honolulu bank.
Nicole “Nickie” Gillespie, who gave no home address when she was arrested Sunday, was charged with second-degree robbery. Her bail was set at $40,000.
Honolulu Police CrimeStoppers released a surveillance photo earlier this month of a woman who robbed the Territorial Savings Bank on 1100 Bishop St. on Sept. 3.
Gillespie is the daughter of one of Duane Chapman’s ex-wives, and is not related to him by blood, according to Chapman. Chapman starred in the A&E TV series “Dog the Bounty Hunter.”
Police arrested Gillespie near Foster Botanical Garden at about noon Sunday.
Man killed in highway accident ID’d
A 44-year-old man who died after he was hit by a van while walking across Hana Highway on Saturday night in Kahului was identified Tuesday as Paul Dease, originally from Lake Wales, Fla., Maui police said.
The man, who has no local address, was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by a Chrysler van near Dairy Road at about 7:15 p.m. He was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition and later died.
The driver of the van, a 44-year-old Kailua man, and his passenger, a 44-year-old Honolulu woman, were not hurt, police said.
It was Maui County’s 18th traffic fatality this year, compared with 17 at this time last year.
Homeless man charged with sex assault
Prosecutors have charged a 54-year-old homeless man with sexually assaulting a 54-year-old woman in Chinatown.
Rene Gabriel was arrested Sunday on River Street near Nuuanu Stream shortly after the alleged assault occurred at 12:40 a.m.
His bail was set at $50,000. He was charged Monday with second-degree sexual assault.
Alleged attacker arrested in stabbing
A 55-year-old man is in custody, accused of stabbing another man several times during an argument in Kalihi in August.
The suspect was arrested Monday afternoon in Manoa.
He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.
