Ricky Kim, star of “Oh! My Baby,” was in Hawaii with his family in August to film his TV show and visit his mother. The program aired in Korea last weekend in time for Chuseok, a Korean holiday similar to Thanksgiving. Hawaiian Airlines partnered with the program and flew Ricky’s family to Hawaii from Korea. Kevin Yim, senior director of global marketing communications, said the airline is “pleased to support the production of Korean TV shows.”
“Oh! My Baby,” featuring Ricky’s visit to Hawaii, will air in two parts on KBFD. The first episode, highlighting Waikiki, can be seen at 6:45 p.m. Friday Ricky’s visit with his mother in Hilo will air at the same time on Oct. 16.
On another note: KBFD has produced its first high-definition documentary about the Korean books in the Hawaii State Public Library system. Moon’s Book Club, the organization that created the Korean book section 20 years ago, started with about 200 books. Today the book count is over 25,000. This touching two-part documentary will air at 9:30 p.m. Saturday and Oct. 11. Thanks to our sponsors: Central Pacific Bank, Tony Hyundai, Korean American Foundation and Hankook Drama Hawaii. The show will have English subtitles.
