The Coast Guard says it rescued a man at sea, found out he has outstanding warrants and then turned him over to Honolulu police.

A 911 call Tuesday reported that a man was in the water off Makaha Beach and couldn’t get back on his boat.

The Coast Guard dispatched rescue crews and found him. A rescue swimmer saw that the 30-foot sailboat’s engine was disabled and the operator had an injured leg.

The boat and two men were taken to Ko Olina Marina. While there, the Coast Guard did some checks and found that the boat had some safety violations such as no registration, no life jackets and no flares.

They also found out the injured boater has warrants in another state. Police arrived to pick him up.
