Man charged with raping fiancee’s 12-year-old daughter
SHARPSBURG, Ga. » Police say a man recently released from a Georgia prison has been charged with raping his fiancee’s 12-year-old daughter.
Multiple news media outlets quoted Col. James Yarbrough as saying Thursday that 29-year-old Shalin Ren Payne threw the girl to the floor and attacked her while he was babysitting for her and her 4-year-old brother in Coweta County on Monday.
Yarbrough said the brother was nearby and the fiancee arrived home during the attack.
He says Payne was charged with aggravated assault, sexual battery, sodomy and child molestation.
Payne is being held without bond at the Coweta County jail. The news reports say he was on parole after serving two years in prison for a burglary conviction, and that he also had served time for aggravated assault. They didn’t say whether Payne has an attorney.
