Waialae Avenue reopens after gas leak, water main break

    Honolulu police closed part of Waialae Avenue in Kaimuki because of a water main break and gas leak this morning.

Police reopened a a section of Waialae Avenue in both directions overnight after repair crews completed repairs to a water main break and gas leak.

At around 1:25 a.m., police reported all lanes of Waialae Avenue between 13th and 15th avenues were open to traffic.

Board of Water Supply crews had earlier been sent to repair the water main, a 6-inch pipe. About 18 households were briefly without water, officials said.
