Police arrested a 24-year-old Mililani man Friday in connection with the death of a 59-year-old man who was found unresponsive in a Mililani parking lot on Oct. 4.
Police said the victim, Martin Luippold of Mililani, was assaulted about 10:30 p.m. at the Gateway at Mililani Mauka shopping center. He was taken with head injuries to a hospital and died several hours later, police said.
The suspect was arrested at his residence on Alapoai Street on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Toddler injured by fall from third floor
A 2-year-old girl was injured Saturday when she fell from the third floor of a Waipahu apartment complex.
Neighbors said the girl was seen playing along a walkway but were unsure how she fell. The walkway is lined with metal railings nearly 4 feet high.
The incident was reported at 3:27 p.m. at a three-story complex on Pupukahi Street. Paramedics transported the girl in serious condition to a local trauma center.
Highway closes after car hits pedestrian
Police closed Kamehameha Highway on Saturday night to investigate a critical pedestrian crash near Helemano Military Reservation.
Police said a man was walking when he was hit by a vehicle about 6:40 p.m. near Paalaa Uka Pupukea Road. The road was closed between Kamananui Road and Joseph P. Leong Highway, police said. The female driver also was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Man arrested for Manoa break-in, assault
Police arrested a 26-year-old St. Louis Heights man Friday evening after he allegedly broke into a 28-year-old man’s Manoa residence and assaulted him.
The incident was reported at 10:05 p.m. and the suspect was arrested about 10:30 p.m. at a Maile Way address on suspicion of first-degree burglary.
