While little appears to be happening at the Asian-themed Resorts World Las Vegas megaresort, the much less ballyhooed Lucky Dragon casino-hotel is rising rapidly on Sahara just west of the Strip.
Also Asian-themed, the nine-story, 201-room hotel portion of the resort has already been built, and work is set to begin on the casino and parking garage. The Lucky Dragon is scheduled for a summer 2016 opening.
Performers corralled: Beginning Nov. 1 the five-block pedestrianized Fremont Street Experience will have designated 6-foot “performance circles” within which buskers, costumed characters and others will be required to confine themselves. The ordinance also requires performers to register with the city and to remain at least 100 feet back from official concerts. Access to the roughly three dozen performance rings will be assigned daily via a lottery system, and individual performance stints will be limited to two hours.
Pete’s place: Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader, Pete Rose, has opened his first restaurant on the Strip. The 350-seat Pete Rose Sports Bar & Grill is across Las Vegas Boulevard from Aria and open 24/7, serving “Pete Rose Specials,” like “Cincinnati Chili on spaghetti” and a “Philly Cheese Steak” topped with brown gravy and cheese curds.
Bitecoin: Las Vegas has a new bitcoin ATM, and this one is themed. Located in the LINQ Promenade, it’s being branded as the “official Mike Tyson Bitcoin.”
Question: I read here that the Westgate SuperBook has -105 lines on Thursdays. How does that affect the odds?
Answer: When you make a sports bet at the standard -110 (bet $110 to win $100), the bookie has a 4.5 percent advantage. Dropping the requirement to betting just $105 to win $100 reduces the edge to 2.4 percent. The -105 lines are available Thursdays from 3 p.m. till closing.
