Forecasters expect sunny skies on Monday as what’s left of former Tropical Storm Nora moves away from the state. But another weather system could bring some showers on Tuesday.

Radar showed some locally heavy showers and thunderstorms from Nora, but the stormy weather was mostly south of Oahu and Kauai this afternoon.

The forecast for tonight and Monday calls for some windward and mauka showers with the possibility of isolated leeward showers.

East winds of 15 to 20 mph should keep temperatures relatively cool and pleasant. The low tonight should range between 72 and 77 degrees and highs Monday will be between 84 and 89 degrees.

A high surf advisory for south shores of all islands was canceled this afternoon.

The chance of rain will increase on Tuesday as another weather system moves over the islands.

The nicer weather Sunday contrasts with Friday and Saturday’s stormy conditions in some areas.

Heavy rain prompted flood advisories from the Big Island to Oahu as the moist tropical air from Nora’s remnants and unstable atmospheric conditions drenched parts of the state.

In the 24 hours ending at 2 a.m. today, nearly 4 inches of rain fell in upper Nuuanu; Poamoho saw nearly 3.6 inches and Moanalua recorded nearly 2 inches.

Almost 9.4 inches fell at Puu Kukui in Upcountry Maui, and Saddle Road on the Big Island got more than 1.9 inches.

In Hilo, muggy conditions made a record-high temperature feel even hotter Saturday. The high temperature of 89 degrees at the airport broke a record of 88 for the date set in 1962.
