A 43-year-old Lahaina man died early Saturday morning following a crash of his electric-powered bicycle. 

According to police, Guy Junker was traveling west of Kupuohi Street when the bike struck a curb at the entrance of the Emerald Plaza parking lot. 

Junker was ejected from the bike and onto the pavement. 

He was transported in critical condition to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he later died. 

An investigation into the crash is ongoing. 

This was Maui County’s 19th traffic fatality of 2015, matching the total for the same time last year.
