After waiting his turn for much of his first seven games, Dylan Collie moved to the head of the line with his most productive performance of the season.
Collie caught a season-high seven passes for 113 yards and his first collegiate touchdown last week in the Rainbow Warrior football team’s 28-27 loss at New Mexico. Collie was the most frequent target of quarterback Ikaika Woolsey and made a 46-yard catch to set up a touchdown and scored on a 27-yard reception in the second quarter.
Collie’s previous high was three receptions for 41 yards against San Diego State. He enters Saturday’s game at Nevada as the team’s leader in receptions with 21 and his 276 yards ranks second.
"There’s a definite role in playing the slot position, you’re kind of like an extended running back in a way and you’ve gotta be patient," Collie said. "I’m still young and I understand that I need to be patient. … That’s all that it was and it was fun, but it wasn’t enough."
