The girl discovered a sewing needle in a Nestle Crunch bar after ripping open the wrapper and cracking the bar

Police are investigating a needle found by an eighth-grader in Halloween candy in West Oahu on Saturday.

Christine Liu said her 13-year-old daughter had been trick-or-treating Halloween night in Ocean Pointe — an Ewa Beach subdivision — and in Kapolei near the fire station.

The girl discovered a sewing needle in a Nestle Crunch bar after ripping open the wrapper and cracking the bar, her mother said.

Liu posted photos on social media and was urged by friends to call police.

She reported the incident, and police opened an attempted second-degree assault case.
