Two-alarm fire causes $300K damage to Wahiawa house
A two-alarm fire destroyed a two-story Wahiawa house this morning, causing about $300,000 damage and injuring a resident, Honolulu fire officials said.
At 8:30 a.m., nine fire companies and 31 firefighters responded to the fire at 247 Olive Ave., said spokesman Capt. David Jenkins. The first fire unit arrived at 8:34 a.m. to find the dwelling with the second floor fully involved in fire, he said.
Three people were home at the time of the fire and were able to get out of the home. A 35-year-old woman was treated and transported by Emergency Medical Services to a hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
Personnel brought the fire under control at 9:21 a.m. and extinguished it by 10:36 a.m.
The home sustained heavy damage with a partial collapse of the roof, Jenkins said.
The American Red Cross is assisting the two families affected by this fire.
