Hawaii drops to No. 7 in volleyball poll
The Hawaii volleyball team, riding a 17-match winning streak, fell a spot to No. 7 in Monday’s AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25.
The Rainbow Wahine (22-1, 12-0 Big West) traded places with former No. 7 Stanford (17-5), the only movement in the Top 10. Defending NCAA champion Penn State (23-2) stayed at No. 1, receiving 35 first-place votes.
USC (25-1, 23 votes) remained at No. 2 followed by Washington (22-2, 6 votes), Minnesota (21-3) and Texas (20-2). Rounding out the Top 10 were Nebraska (20-4), UCLA (20-4) and Kansas (22-1).
In the Ratings Percentage Index, the computer ranking used by the NCAA selection committee to seed the top 16 teams in the postseason tournament, Hawaii remained at 32. Minnesota replaced USC in the top spot.
Hawaii finishes the regular season on the road with four matches in seven days. Up first is Sunday’s match at UC Irvine.
