MIAMI >> A third day of testimony is set for a Florida man who claims he shot his wife in self-defense before posting a photo of her body on Facebook.

The testimony Friday in the trial of 33-year-old Derek Medina is likely to focus on forensic evidence and police crime scene experts. Medina faces a maximum life prison sentence if convicted of murder in the August 2013 killing of 27-year-old Jennifer Alfonso.

Defense attorneys say the self-defense claim centers on evidence that Alfonso abused drugs, battered her husband and was involved in Satan worship. Prosecutors say Medina was a boxer who could overpower her but shot her because she threatened to leave him.

Medina told police he uploaded a photo of Alfonso’s body on Facebook to show family what had happened.
