Tim Campbell has been named chief executive officer of Fresh Island Fish effective Nov. 30, succeeding founder Bruce Johnson, who will become chairman of the board.
Campbell is Johnson’s nephew, and his “executive-level business experience sets the stage for a seamless transition,” Johnson said in a statement.
Campbell’s more-than-30-year career includes more than two decades with GE Capital, during which he managed and trained teams and negotiated loans of up to $50 million.
Johnson started the seafood distribution company in 1977, and it now has four full-service facilities on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii island. Johnson also opened Uncle’s Fish Market & Grill at Honolulu’s Pier 38 in 2007, as a way to showcase the company’s seafood products.
Johnson, who led the expansion of Fresh Island Fish to accounts around the Pacific Rim, plans to expand the business into emerging markets and also to expand the restaurant to new locations around the islands.
