A 35-year-old Hilo man is facing multiple drug-related charges after he was caught in a stolen pickup truck Thursday, police said.
John Leialoha was driving the truck, which had previously been reported as stolen, on Kulani Road when he was pulled over and arrested, according to police.
A subsequent search turned up 11.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine plus drug paraphernalia in Leialoha’s possession, police said.
On Friday, Leialoha was charged with first-degree methamphetamine trafficking, promoting a dangerous drug, possessing drug paraphernalia and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. His bail was set at $310,000.
Leialoha was also charged with violating terms of a supervised release. He is being held without bail on that charge until his initial court appearance Monday.
