A 32-year-old Maui woman was charged Monday with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a man.
Taliah Nelson of Wailuku was being held on $1 million bail.
Police officers responded to a call of a stabbing at about 11:21 p.m. Sunday at a Wailuku residence.
The man, David Kecxon, 57, of Wailuku, was treated by medics and transported in critical condition to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he later died, police said.
Police said Nelson fled the scene and was arrested on Lower Main Street.
Repair work to shut part of H-3
State transportation officials said Monday wear and tear has damaged a steel expansion joint and is prompting closure of the Honolulu-bound lanes of the H-3 freeway Wednesday night.
The H-3 freeway between the Likelike Highway and the Halawa Interchange will be closed for overnight emergency repair work from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday.
The right lane of the H-3 was recently closed, and remains closed, on the Halawa side 2 miles from the Harano Tunnel.
Officials said the steel expansion joint that connects two segments of the roadway is damaged and that the entire roadway must be closed to prevent vibration while crews are doing welding repairs.
Department of Transportation spokesman Tim Sakahara said the cost of the repair is undetermined at this time.
Pali and Likelike highways are alternate routes, officials said.
