Groups involved in 2 Waikiki incidents
Police were investigating two robberies involving a large group of males Friday in Waikiki, but police said it was unclear whether the incidents involved the same suspects.
About 7:30 a.m., five males were approached by six males who used physical force and brandished a dangerous instrument to obtain the belongings of two victims, both 16-year-old boys, police said. The six suspects then ran away, and police opened a first-degree robbery investigation.
About 8:40 p.m., four juvenile suspects, including one wielding a wrench, threatened to hurt two teens, ages 15 and 19, if they didn’t hand over their property near Tony Roma’s restaurant, police said.
The suspects took the victims’ property and fled. Police responded and located a 15-year-old boy who was identified by the victims as one of the suspects. He was arrested for investigation of second-degree robbery and released pending investigation.
Suspect sought in parking booth robbery
Police were looking for a man who robbed a parking booth attendant Friday night in Waikiki.
Police said the man took money from the booth, brandished a knife, told the victim not to follow him, and fled in an unknown direction about 11 p.m. Officers opened a first-degree robbery case.
Man who threw kitchen items is charged
A 64-year-old man has been charged with throwing kitchenware at an elderly woman during an argument and causing substantial bodily injuries, police said.
Dong H. Kim, of Moiliili, was charged with first-degree assault, and his bail was set at $50,000.
Kim was arrested at his home about 4 a.m. Thursday after he threw kitchenware at an 89-year-old woman the day before, causing serious injuries, police said.
Alleged burglar apprehended in Kaneohe
Crime Reduction Unit officers arrested a 34-year-old man after they observed him trying to enter a Kaneohe business early Thursday morning, police said.
When the CRU officers approached the man, he fled on foot. Police gave chase and arrested him in a residential neighborhood at about 1:24 a.m., near the intersection of Kulauli and Hilinai streets.
Officers arrested him for attempted burglary; he was charged with criminal trespass and released on $2,000 bail.
No information was immediately available on the business.
