Strong tradewinds near the isles are churning up the ocean and are expected to bring rough surf to east shores today.
The conditions prompted forecasters at the National Weather Service to post a high surf advisory for the east-facing shores of all islands through 6 a.m. Saturday.
Waves up to 6 to 10 feet are expected through tonight.
Beachgoers are warned to heed advice given by ocean safety officials.
