Get in the holiday spirit with the Hawaii State Public Library System’s free programs and events. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. >> Dec. 12: Kapolei Chorale Christmas Concert, 10:30 a.m. at Kapolei Public Library (693-7050)
>> Dec. 12: Holiday Read Aloud, 1 p.m. at Waipahu Public Library (675-0358). UH-West Oahu Club students read “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Free crafts such as Santa beard and hat, bookmarks and ornaments. Drawings for prizes; free cookies.
>> Dec. 14: Karol’s Karolers Christmas Concert, 6:30 p.m. at Ewa Beach Public & School Library (689-1204). Performance by a seasonal a cappella group composed of church choir members, of Christmas songs from around the world.
>> Dec. 15: Felt ornaments, 6 p.m. at Kahuku Public & School Library (293-8935). Make felt ornaments and customize them with buttons, felt, rickrack, sequins or embroidery stitches.
>> Dec. 19: Honolulu Handbell Ensemble Christmas Concert, noon at Hawaii State Library (586-3520). Holiday music performed with handbells includes selections from “The Nutcracker Suite,” plus vocalists, instrumentalists and the Kapiolani Community College Synthesizer Ensemble.
>> Dec. 19: Royal Hawaiian Band Christmas Concert, 10:30 a.m. at Aiea Public Library (483-7333)
>> Dec. 21: Christmas Movie Marathon, 1 to 8 p.m. at Ewa Beach Public & School Library (689-1204). Free screenings of “Mickey’s Magical Christmas,” “Santa Buddies,” “Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas,” “Secret of the Wings” and “A Very Merry Pooh Year.”
