Meatloaf, sausage combo brightens holiday at Max’s

Holidays are a time for breaking out the special dishes, and over at Max’s of Manila, the holiday special is embutido, a Filipino-style sausage-shaped meatloaf encasing whole hard-boiled eggs.

The meatloaf itself, sweetened ground pork dotted with a dice of hot dogs and red bell pepper, will leave you wanting seconds. It comes with vinegar that adds a touch of brightness to the dish.

It’s available in-house for $10.95 at the Waipahu location (94-300 Farrington Highway, 676-1504) and at 801 Dillingham Blvd. (599-5033). It is also available as a holiday party catering dish at $29.95 for three logs.
