Police arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly breaking into a vehicle Monday night in the Salt Lake area.
Police said a witness saw the boy rummaging inside the vehicle at 9:50 p.m. Monday.
Hickam Air Force Base security forces detained the suspect and called Honolulu police, who arrested the teen on suspicion of first-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
Police released the suspect Tuesday morning.
Teen caught on stolen moped, police say
Honolulu police arrested a 14-year-old boy who was allegedly operating a stolen moped in Kalihi.
Security officers told police that the boy appeared to be recklessly driving a moped from 11:35 p.m. Monday to 12:15 a.m. Tuesday on a Linapuni Street property. The security officers stopped the boy and detained him until police arrived.
Responding police officers conducted computer checks on the moped and found it was reported stolen.
Police arrested the boy on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and harassment.
Boy arrested in Kalihi over reckless driving
Police arrested a 17-year-old boy for alleged reckless driving and other offenses after officers spotted him operating a moped Monday night on a roadway in Kalihi.
Officers saw the moped operator allegedly driving recklessly in the area of Gulick Avenue and Beckley Street at about 10:55 to 11 p.m. Monday, police said. When they stopped the moped driver, the teen got off the moped and fled on foot.
Police found the suspect, identified him and arrested him at 11 p.m. on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, reckless driving, resisting arrest and second-degree theft in the initial theft of the moped.
