A 1-year-old girl critically injured when she was run over by a truck backing up in the driveway of a home in Waianae has died, police said.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office identified her Saturday as Jada Kepaa of Waianae.
The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. Friday at a home on Noholio Road, police said. Paramedics treated the baby and took her in critical condition to a hospital, where she died Friday, police said.
A 47-year-old woman was driving the truck, police said.
The accident remains under investigation.
Suspects sought in massage parlor holdup
Honolulu police are looking for a man and woman who held up a massage parlor in the McCully area Friday evening.
Police said the man brandished what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from a 67-year-old woman at the unidentified massage parlor at about 6:20 p.m. The suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police did not release a description of the suspects or give an exact location of the incident.
2 are injured in Kunia motorcycle accident
A motorcycle crashed trying to avoid an animal in the road Friday night, injuring two people, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
The accident happened on Kunia Road near the Royal Kunia subdivision at about 9:26 p.m.
Paramedics treated a 56-year-old man, who was driving the motorcycle, and a 58-year-old female passenger and took them to the hospital. The man was reported in stable condition; his passenger was in serious condition.
Crash in Waipahu knocks down phone pole
A car knocked down a telephone pole on Waipahu Street near Paiwa Street, prompting police to close Waipahu Street as Hawaiian Telcom crews replaced the pole Saturday.
The accident happened at about 11 p.m. Friday. Waipahu Street was closed from Mahoe to Paiwa streets.
Hawaiian Telcom spokeswoman Su Shin said in an email that the crash severed a couple of cables, but no telephone or Internet outages were reported. Crews finished repairs Saturday.
Man arrested after being found in closet
A 39-year-old man was arrested Friday after he was found in the closet of another man’s home in downtown Honolulu, police said.
The suspect entered the residence of a 63-year-old man who had a temporary restraining order against him and removed items without permission, then was found about 10:40 a.m. Friday in a closet in the home, police said.
Officers arrested the suspect, of no local address, on suspicion of first-degree burglary on Maunakea Street.
