Calif. grandma admits to drowning grandson
FAIRFIELD, Calif. » Police say a Northern California grandmother has admitted to drowning her 4-year-old grandson in a bathtub.
The Los Angeles Times reports today that police say 51-year-old Dawn Raines-Hewes was arrested Tuesday morning when police say neighbors saw her run screaming from her house, then found her grandson unconscious inside.
In a statement Wednesday, Fairfield police said that during the investigation, Raines-Hewes admitted to the intentional act of drowning the child. Two other grandchildren, a 1-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl, were also under the grandmother’s care. Police say they were not harmed
A motive has not been released. She is being held without bail and is slated to appear in court today afternoon.
It was not clear Thursday if she has an attorney. But several extended relatives called her a loving and caring woman.

Probably sexist as the other 2 were females?
“…several extended relatives called her a loving and caring woman.” Odd display of “loving and caring.”
It’s tough babysitting three young children. Tutu and I “tag team” two of our toddlers, though she does most of the work. My superhuman neighbor is raising three grandsons (4mos/3yo/4yo) alone, 24/7. The boys are extremely active, but she trains them well. Leashes work well for safety purposes, outside the home. Drugs destroy families.
Her hands and feet is just like the devil, unclean and evil.
Some people are lower than a animal.
I’m guessing the boy was special needs or hard to handle. G’ma got fed up and held the boy underwater as punishment. But in her anger, she went too far. Isn’t speculation terrible?
