Police investigated an apparent double shooting on Kukulu Street today.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office was awaiting positive identification today of two people who died New Year’s Day in a murder-suicide shooting in Kapolei.

Police said a 32-year-old man killed a 56-year-old woman with “a dangerous instrument” before using the same instrument on himself about 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Paramedics responding to an emergency call at the Kukulu Street residence found the woman dead of an apparent gunshot wound, and the man suffering from a single gunshot wound, an Emergency Medical Services report said.

Police said the man was taken to a hospital where he died. The shooting may have occurred during a New Year’s party at the residence, police said.

Detectives remained at the scene for several hours Friday evening to investigate.

Is this the first homocide of the year for O’ahu?

The developer really should have tried to smash more houses together in that neighborhood. Good job on building that school in a timely manner too (Probably something Planning and Permitting should have made the developer accomplish prior to building any residential structures, but noooooo).

They may have been family. It looks like the son who is mentally ill shot his mother after the party and then killed himself. I wonder what the official story will be.

So what is the map supposed to show ? The general area of the incident ?

One would think that these web guys doing the SA site could embed better maps with at least an arrow pointing to the spot if not interactive where the reader can make things big enough to actually read the streets. Let alone make it interactive. But I guess they are scrambling to just make the site workable. Just my two cents worth of unlimited wisdom.

No need a map. Only increases the download time of the Flash program. Long scripted timeout. No pictures is fine with me on SA. c om.

Looks like either the Police don’t know much about what happened or the reporting is bad, or more likely, both.

Well, I’ll bet THAT broke up the party!

I don’t see any swimming pools in that area. Must be a poor man’s dump? My puppies need a place to swim.

Isn’t it easier to say or write “Gun”, rather than “Dangerous Instrument”? Or are badly played trombones now capable of firing bullets?
