A 40-year-old woman was charged last week with fraudulently collecting more than $20,000 in public assistance funds.
Kianna Ah Lee Sam was charged Wednesday with first-degree theft for allegedly received benefits to which she was not entitled, according to Attorney General Doug Chin.
Sam allegedly applied for and received the money between Nov. 1, 2007, and Nov. 30, 2014. First-degree theft is a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in jail.
