Strong earthquake hits off Philippines; no tsunami threat to Hawaii
A strong earthquake struck off the Philipines this morning but does not pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii.
The preliminary magnitude 6.4 temblor struck at 6:38 a.m. Hawaii time 145 miles southeast of Sarangani, Philipines at a depth of 8 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A Pacific-wide tsunami was not expected, and no there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii, according to officials at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
No injuries were immediately reported.

As usual, a 6-point-anything temblor anywhere but right here in Hawaii has zero chance of generating a tsunami that would affect us.
