Waves on north and west shores continue to rise to under cloudy skies and could reach heights of 35 to 45 feet tonight, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service warns of dangerous surf conditions on north and west shores of Kauai County, Oahu and Molokai and north shores of Maui through 6 p.m. Saturday night.
A high surf warning is in effect. Waves are expected to remain dangerous, but decline to 20 to 25 feet Saturday.
West shores were expected to get wave faces of 20 to 25 feet, declining to 15 to 20 feet on Saturday.
“These dangerous conditions mean that only highly-experienced persons should enter the water,” forecasters said. “Inexperienced persons should remain off beaches and adjacent beachfront areas. Large breaking surf, significant shorebreak and dangerous currents make entering the water very hazardous. Anyone entering the water could face significant injury or death.”
On Hawaii island, a high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday because of 6 to 10 foot surf along west shores.
Meanwhile, forecasters expect a weak cold front to stall near Oahu, bringing partly cloudy skies and light showers, especially in windward and mauka areas in the morning.
Winds will be light and cool temperatures are expected with lows from 65 to 70 degrees and highs between 29 and 84 degrees.
Stay home, kids. Don’t try this at home. Leave the surfing only for the pros, who will also stay on the shoreline when it is this high.
