Police were looking for suspects in two bank robberies on Saturday. The first robbery happened at 10:30 a.m. in the Kapiolani Boulevard area.
The second robbery happened at the Central Pacific Bank in the Don Quijote store about 2:15 p.m.
Police were viewing the bank’s cameras in the second robbery and searching the surrounding area.
Man is charged with attempted murder
A 27-year-old man was charged Saturday with attempted murder in Kahaluu after he poured a flammable liquid on a 24-year-old woman and the liquid caught on fire, police said.
Bobby Young Townsend, of Kaneohe, was charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree arson at 1:10 a.m. His bail was set at $1 million.
Police said Townsend was arguing with the woman in a parked van at about 2 p.m. Monday when he threw the liquid on her, which ignited and burned the woman and the van.
Paramedics took the woman to the hospital in serious condition with second-degree burns to her arms, legs, and back.
Townsend was arrested in Kailua Thursday evening.
Woman accused in alleged gas attack
Police opened an attempted murder case Friday after a 27-year-old woman reported that another woman dumped gasoline on her and tried to light it.
The incident happened at about 7:30 a.m. in the Honolulu area.
Police said both women were arguing when the suspect, a 33-year-old woman, struck the victim several times and grabbed a container of gasoline. The older woman poured the gas on the victim and attempted to light the gas, but failed, police said. She fled the scene.
The victim later withdrew her complaint, police said.
2 charged in separate sexual assaults
Two men were charged Friday with sexually assaulting juvenile girls in separate incidents this week.
Shanon Hamm, 18, of Aiea, was charged with first-degree sexual assault after a 13-year-old girl accused him of assaulting her on Jan. 15 in the Hickam area. His bail was set at $25,000.
Caffery Todd Sheather, 43, of Kaneohe, was charged with first-degree and third-degree sexual assault after an 11-year-old girl said Sheather sexually assaulted her between midnight and 4 a.m. Jan. 16 in Ko Olina.
His bail was set at $150,000.
3 juveniles arrested in graffiti incident
Online postings regarding graffiti sprayed on the buildings of Kawananakoa Middle School last week have led to the arrest of three juveniles who attend the school.
Multiple buildings at Kawananakoa were vandalized Tuesday and Wednesday nights, police said.
The arrests occurred Thursday after Kawananakoa students reported online posts regarding the graffiti involving their classmates and gave the information to school officials.
The suspected students were then brought in to speak to the administration. Police arrested the three juveniles on suspicion of second-degree criminal property damage.
Police did not release their gender or ages. The case will be handled by Family Court and no other details will be released because the suspects are minors.
