With raises in recent years, HPD officers are quite well paid. With ample overtime opportunities, the officers really can clean up.

Funny, Recriuters from Northwest just came through. Yes HPD got great salaries, better on mainland by about 8 to 10 thousand depending on what you bring to the table. The also take lateral transfer s with 3 years of patrol time and department is either POST or Calea Certified. All four counties are Calea. Best deal, 20 year retirement at 50 %. Communties up there don’t like “old” cops responding to calls. Too much of a liability. When they shoot they tend to hit the wrong thing or have their gun taken away, then get shot. Ever see a 40 year old private in the military ?

Hopefully my homeys from SHOPO will be there too, to let the young ‘uns know they’ll be protected from any attempts at police reform and accountability!

Bound to have job vacancies when ten thousand boomers are retire everyday.

    • pohaku96744 says:

Yep, boomers retiring, lots under old contract, 25 years, any age, 62.5 %. They can actually retire here, collect, move to mainland and work in a small community. Then double dip. Went to visit some retired friends now working for Seattle Port Authority Police, all laterals, one a supervisor. Good salary, 13 years in, nice big house, goes to Hawks games……
