Hanalei Bay closed after surfer bitten by shark
Lifeguards closed Hanalei Bay to swimming until further notice after a man was bitten by a shark this afternoon, Kauai County officials said.
A Minnesota man was paddling to shore after surfing near the Hanalei Pier, when he was bit by what he believes to be a shark at about 2 p.m., according to a county news release.
Although officials did not see the shark, lifeguards noted that the man suffered non-life threatening lacerations to both of his hands. The man opted to drive himself to seek medical treatment, officials said.
As a safety precaution, lifeguards posted ‘”Shark Sighted” and “No Swimming” signs along the beach and are roving the shoreline to warn beachgoers to stay out of the water until further notice.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources was notified of the incident.
Lifeguards will reassess the water Friday morning to determine if it is safe for swimming, officials said.

Warning sign is posted regardless if there is an infestation or not. It’s all about disclaiming your self in court.
infestation?
Minnesota, was that the guy who missed the field goal
might not be the same guy
it could have been a shark that he believes or not, how about barracudas paddling near the pier with a bracelet or even a ring that shines in the water is something barracudas go after. main thing he is all right no matter what it was.
