Hawaii’s Koa Kea Hotel & Resort in Poipu, Kauai, is Hawaii’s most romantic hotel and is the third-most romantic hotel in the U.S., according to a new ranking.

TripAdvisor.com released its ranking of the Top 25 Romantic Hotels in the U.S., in the World, and in various regions.

Topping the U.S. list was Henderson Park Inn, in Destin, Fla., followed by No. 2 Wentworth Mansion in Charleston, So. Carolina and the Koa Kea.

The most romantic hotel in the world, according to the TripAdvisor ranking, is Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort Aruba, in the Caribbean.

The TripAdvisor rankings also are offered in other categories including small hotels, bargain hotels, luxury hotels, best service, and B&Bs and inns.

Four Seasons Resort at Bora Bora in the Society Islands, with over-water bungalows as guest rooms, ranked 23 among the best luxury hotels in the world. No Hawaii properties made the top 25 in the international ranking.

On the U.S. list, Hawaii’s representation is topped by the Montage Kapalua Bay in Lahaina, Maui, coming in at No. 4.

The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in Kailua-Kona ranks 14th, and the Four Seasons Resort Lana‘i, The Lodge at Ko‘ele, ranks at No. 19.

TripAdvisor’s ranking of the best small hotels in the U.S. rates Kalaekilohana, in Naalehu on Hawaii Island, as No. 3 in the country.

No Hawaii hotels made top marks for best service, but the real-life Hotel California in Palm Springs is ranked third, behind The Inn Above Oak Creek in Sedona, Arizona, and the top-ranked Desert Riviera Hotel, also in Palm Springs, Calif.

Additionally, no Hawaii hotel properties were listed among the top 25 bargain hotels nor among the top 25 bed-and-breakfasts or inns in the U.S.
